The scale of systems here is something you adjust to gradually. Your mental model of what a “big” codebase or “large” traffic number keeps getting revised upward. The operational discipline is genuinely different from anywhere I’ve worked before. Runbooks, COEs, the culture of writing things down. It’s overhead that pays for itself faster than you’d expect.

The thing I’ve valued most is working with people who are serious about working backwards. Starting from the customer and building toward the solution, not the other way around. Sounds obvious. It’s rarer than it should be.

Still learning a lot. That’s the main thing.
