One line review - A Fine Balance
Rohinton Mistry does not pull punches. The Emergency-era India in this book is specific and brutal and completely believable. You spend 600 pages caring about these characters and Mistry rewards that investment in the most honest way possible, which is to say, not with easy resolution. One of the most affecting books I’ve read in a long time.
